Speeding driver facing multiple charges

On April 29, a Georgia man was taken into custody after he was accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol. Authorities stated that his vehicle was traveling at about 100 mph on Highway 400 just north of Windward Parkway in Alpharetta.

After the authorities conducted a traffic stop on the man's vehicle, he allegedly told them that he was attempting to take his child to a nearby Chuck E. Cheese. The responding officer claimed that he smelled alcohol on the man's breath, though the man denied this claim. The man was then given a breathalyzer that revealed his blood alcohol content was over the legal limit. He was then initially taken into custody.

Police stated that as he was being taken towards the patrol vehicle, he then allegedly began hitting his head against the window. After they reached the jail, the man then allegedly refused another breath test by pulling his shorts down. He was taken to a cell before being charged with several offenses. An adult passenger was also taken into custody for being belligerent at the scene, and the child was brought to police headquarters before being returned to his parents.

When people are charged with drunk driving, the consequences of a conviction could be severe, including fines and incarceration. Even the administrative penalty of a driver's license suspension could be problematic for a person who has no other way to get to a place of employment. For these and other reasons, obtaining the help of a criminal defense attorney in the building of a strategy to combat the charges is often advisable.
