New charges for woman convicted in death by stabbing

A woman charged with the stabbing death of a 17-year-old male in 2005 is back in jail. The woman was originally convicted in the murder but was paroled after just four years in prison. The woman and her brother attacked the teen in his home, which was near the Georgia Square Mall, during a fight over drugs.

The woman was able to avoid going to trial by pleading to making false statements, tampering with evidence and aggravated assault. It also helped her avoid being sentenced to life in prison for her role in the crime. She was originally sentenced to 11 years in jail and an additional 29 years of probation.

The female was paroled in 2012 from the Arrendale State Prison. In May 2017, the woman was arrested with another female after an incident at a Walmart. The woman was charged with financial transaction card fraud along with criminal attempt to commit a felony. The charges were filed in Clarke County.

The woman was indicted on fraud charges in October and returned to prison due to violations of her parole and probation. Earlier in the month of November she was transferred back to Athens, where she served time in the murder case. She is waiting to be arraigned on the new charges.
