Program offers opportunity to clear misdemeanor warrants

Those in Atlanta who are facing the penalties that accompany a warrant for a misdemeanor need to be cognizant of the various options they have to settle the issue. A misdemeanor charge might not sound like a major problem, but if it is left unchecked it can evolve into one. A traffic ticket is an example.

Think twice about pleading guilty to that traffic ticket

In a post a few weeks back, we briefly touched on the fact that the majority of traffic offenses here in Georgia are charged as misdemeanors, meaning the consequences for a conviction are decidedly less severe than they are for felony-level traffic offenses.

How much do you really know about misdemeanors?

As in most other jurisdictions, the state of Georgia breaks crimes down into felonies and misdemeanors. For those somewhat unfamiliar with these terms, the former typically includes more serious offenses punishable by one year or more in a state prison, while the latter includes less serious offenses punishable by one year or less in a county jail.
